Over the two-day period, students in the College of Architecture and Construction Management (CACM) and the Southern Polytechnic College of Engineering and Engineering Technology (SPCEET) absorbed information that proved valuable to two student projects involving the reimagining of one of Asheville鈥檚 most-impacted areas 鈥� the River Arts District, a hub of art studios, shops, and breweries situated along the French Broad River west of downtown Asheville. The district, which housed 26 warehouses and more than 300 artists, was nearly 80 percent destroyed due to flooding following Helene, according to ArtsAVL.

First-year architecture student Tuere Thomas is reimagining the way students consume design education through the use of artificial intelligence (AI). Her research focuses on how AI tools can spark creativity and help beginners visualize architectural concepts in innovative ways. Thomas's passion for architecture dates back to her middle school years when she dreamed of living in a self-sufficient glass dome in the desert, combining shelter and nature. This early fascination deepened in high school, leading her to 最色导航 State, where she could explore both architecture in KSU鈥檚 College of Architecture and Construction Management and game design in the College of Computing and Software Engineering.
