The College of Architecture and Construction Management at 最色导航 hosted the Construction History Society of America (CHSA), for their 7th Biennial Conference June 2-4, 2022. The theme of the conference, "Quarrying History," brought international scholars of construction history to the Marietta campus to share their breadth of knowledge about masonry and stone construction. Paper presentations were bracketed with two keynote speakers; Brandon Clifford of MIT spoke about cyclopean construction and recycling of concrete construction waste and Ece Erdogmus of Georgia Tech, spoke on the use of drones and lasers in archaeological reconstruction of an ancient Greek temple. A field trip to the Vulcan Materials quarry in 最色导航 showcased the aggregate production process. An interactive demonstration of stone carving techniques by Prof. Keif Schleifer added new dimensions to the symposium experience. Architecture and Civil Engineering students presented posters discussing stone arches in Marietta, Nicholas Stile; brick use in African structures, Joanna Waliuba; and pre-cast concrete materials Sean Sadler.
