Join a Registered Student Organization (RSO)

All Registered Student Organizations (RSOs) can be found in Owl Life.  Students can search for organizations by following these steps:

  1. Visit the on the .
  2. Browse by organization name or categories (found on the left-hand side of the screen).
  3. Click on an organization to visit their specific Owl Life page.  Learn about the purposes of each student organization and how to become a member.
  4. To let an organization know you are interested in joining, click the blue "Join" button in the top right corner of the RSO's page if they have one.  You can also email their RSO email address or any of the officers.

Students can set their personal settings or indicate interests by following these steps:

  1. Log into Owl Life with your Net-ID & password
  2. Clicking on your picture or initial in the circle in the top right corner.
  3. Select "Account" from the sidebar menu and then "Interests."
  4. Select your personal interests for Owl Life to personalize organization & event recommendations.
  5. In the "Account" section, add a profile picture, contact information, and update your notification settings for Owl Life.

Start up a New Student Organization

Thank you for your interest in establishing a new student organization at 最色导航!  Registered Student Organizations (RSOs) are an integral part of the co-curricular experience here at KSU. Student Organizations allow KSU students the opportunity to make connections, gain valuable experiences, build resume skills, and add some fun to their college experience. The Department of Student Activities鈥� staff is excited that you are ready and willing to provide another avenue for KSU students to get involved and we are here to support you along the way.

New Student Organizations can only be registered during the academic year late August and March. The New Registered Student Organization initial registration process for the 2025-2026 academic year will become available on Friday, August 22, 2025 at 8:00 AM.  The process must be completed in its entirety completed in its entirety by Monday, May 1, 2026 at 5:00 PM. If you have questions, please contact the Department of Student Activities at studentactivities@kennesaw.edu.

Students interested in starting a new Club Sports team should contact the Department of Sports and Recreation. Student interested in starting a new Social Greek organization should contact the Department of Fraternity & Sorority Life.

Steps to start a new Registered Student Organization

  • Search the  to make sure that your new student organization does not have a similar purpose as an existing KSU organization.
  • Find 6 currently enrolled KSU students who are interested in being members of the organization and record their names, KSU e-mail addresses, and net-IDs to submit in the 鈥淣ew Student Organization Registration鈥� form (step 4). Also determine who will serve in leadership positions for the group, including the required positions of president, treasurer and reservation delegate.
  • Find a full-time employee of KSU that would like to serve as the organization's advisor (faculty or staff) and record their name, KSU e-mail address, and KSU office phone number to submit in the 鈥淣ew Student Organization Registration鈥� form. RSOs are allowed to have more than one advisor; however, the primary advisor must be a full-time employee of KSU.  The Advisor must be listed on the Owl Life roster and accept the Terms and Conditions.
  • Create a constitution for the organization with the required KSU articles and positions. See our Sample Constitution for assistance!

  • The President, Treasurer, and Reservation Delegate must complete the following trainings:

    To access the online trainings: 

    1. Log on to  with your Net-ID and password.
    2. Scroll down to the "Student Affairs" section.
    3. Select the course "Student Organization Training AY 2022-2023."
    4. Enroll in course.
    5. Officers must complete all videos and quizzes included in the required modules per each position.
    6. Download the Certificate of Completion for each module.

    **President must submit a Buckley Form (link to form on ).  President must select that they are a "staff" member and list your On-Campus Advisor's name and email address as the Supervisor.

    Students will not receive credit for the course until they view all videos and pass the quiz for the appropriate course(s).  Officers must receive a passing grade of 80% on their respective module quizzes.  You will need to upload the Certificates of Completion in the Owl Life Registration Form as proof of completion.

  • Complete the 鈥淣ew Student Organization Registration鈥� form in its entirety.  You will need to log in to Owl Life with your Net-ID and password.  Go to  and then click the blue 鈥淩egister a New Organization鈥� button to begin the form.  Please note that RSO names cannot start with "KSU" or "最色导航."  If you would like to use KSU in your RSO's name, it may be listed as "[RSO] at 最色导航."

    Once submitted, please allow at least 3-5 business days for the submission to be processed.

    NOTE: Only KSU email addresses (@students.kennesaw.edu or @kennesaw.edu) can be used in this form. 

  • After completion of these steps a Student Activities staff member will contact the officers & advisor to schedule a 鈥淕etting Started鈥� meeting.  The President and Advisor are required to attend the 鈥淕etting Started鈥� meeting to discuss ways the organization be successful.  This meeting will be scheduled after your 鈥淣ew Student Organization Registration鈥� form is approved by Student Activities staff.

Resources for Starting a New RSO

  • Sample Constitution: Use this document as a guide in structuring your constitution. Take note of the required constitution article and be sure to include page numbers.
  • RSO Categories: Below are the different RSO Categories.  Determine which one best aligns with the purpose of your organization before you complete the new RSO registration form in Owl Life (Step 5 listed above).
  • Organizations that promote academic and/or professional growth by focusing on a particular major or academic program.
  • Organizations that compete on a local, state or national level in primarily applied academic competitions.
  • Organizations that provide volunteer and community service opportunities including, but not limited to, philanthropy activities, advocacy work, and hands-on service opportunities.
  • Organizations that act as a means for students of a particular culture or nationality to interact with others of the same affiliation and/or to share their respective culture with the broader campus community.
  • Organizations that act as a means for students of a particular denomination or religious affiliation to interact with others of the same affiliation or to explore ideas and topics related to faith and spirituality.
  • Fraternities, Sororities and supporting Councils include the Greek-lettered organizations that are recognized as part of the College Panhellenic Council, Interfraternity Council, National Pan-Hellenic Council, and Multicultural Greek Council. These organizations and councils are supported by the Department of Fraternity and Sorority and should contact Fraternity & Sorority Life for information regarding expansion.
  • Organizations that exist to provide benefits, support and services to graduate students primarily.
  • Organizations that recognize students and select membership based on academic and personal achievement.
  • Organizations that support and advocate for military veterans and military members.
  • Organizations that promote the enjoyment and/or performance of the arts and music.
  • Organizations that relate to, or deal with, the structure and affairs of government, politics, or the state (partisan or non-partisan).
  • Organizations that exist in order to provide information related to their purpose through means of mass communication, such as newspapers, magazines, radio, or television.
  • Organizations that discuss, encourage, and/or engage in reform work related to a particular cause or movement for social change.
  • Organizations that focus on a specific set of interests or topics and work to advance members understanding in that specific area or engage in a particular past time or leisure pursuit.

Re-register a Student Organization

The Re-Registertration Process must be completed by all existing RSOs to stay active and registered with KSU.

Late RSO re-registration for the 2025-2026 academic year must be completed in its entirety on Monday, September 2 at noon. Full instructions can be found below:

  • The re-registration form can be submitted by any officer or member of the organization.  The re-registration form may not be submitted by an RSO Advisor.

    Steps to Access and Complete the Owl Life Re-Registration Form: 

    1. Prior to beginning to complete the re-registration form, prepare all required items/information:
      1. List of all organization members鈥� KSU student email addresses (xxxxxx@students.kennesaw.edu)
      2. Contact information for your on- and off-campus (if applicable) advisor(s)
      3. Your RSO鈥檚 currently used Constitution/Bylaws
      4. Certificates of Completion for President, Reservation Delegate, and Treasurer online training modules (see above drop-down)
    2. Click the re-register button and follow the instructions listed on your RSOs re-registration page.
    3. Fill out the form by completing all questions.
      1. Student organizations are required to list three officers (President, Reservation Delegate, and Treasurer), the KSU Advisor(s), and the Off-Campus Advisor (if applicable).  The President automatically has reservation access and cannot be listed as the Reservation Delegate. The President cannot also be listed as the Treasurer.
      2. The most recently approved constitution can be found in the "Documents" section of your RSO's Owl Life page labeled as "[Name of RSO] constitution 25-26."
    4. Complete the Roster step to add all members who are not already on the roster and remove those who graduated or are no longer members.  Instructions on how to manage your Owl Life roster can be found on the Department of Student Activities website.  The individuals serving as the President, Reservation Delegate, Treasurer, and Advisor must be shown on the roster; Student Activities Staff will assign the individuals their positions after the submission of the Re-Registration form.
    5. Add a profile picture or change the existing one. Remember that the profile picture is displayed as a circle.  The profile picture is your RSO鈥檚 logo, you are permitted to use specific KSU trademarks after receiving approval from the Office of Strategic Communications and Marketing. Please submit a to use any trademarks and/or wordmarks of the University.

    Once you complete all the steps of the Re-Registration form, you have a chance to review your submission before finalizing it.  After reviewing your information, be sure you click the blue 鈥淪ubmit for Approval鈥� button.

  • KSU On-Campus Advisors must accept the online Terms and Conditions in Owl Life.  If your Advisor needs, help, please send them these instructions on how to accept the Advisor Terms & Conditions.

RSOs that do not complete the RSO re-registration process by the deadline must complete late re-registration in August to remain active.  Organizations wishing to participate in the EXTREME Student Involvement Fairs must re-register and sign up for the Involvement Fairs when sign up open. 

RSOs that do not complete the late re-registration process by the deadline will be marked as "inactive" for the 2025-2026academic year and will officially lose access to all privileges.  These organizations will need to wait until fall 2025 to re-registration.
