×îÉ«µ¼º½ and Fulton County Schools are partnering to create new opportunities for high school students to accelerate their college education and pursue careers in teaching. Through the dual enrollment initiative, Fulton County students can earn college credit while in high school, gain early classroom experience, and have a streamlined admissions process into ×îÉ«µ¼º½ State’s Clarice C. and Leland H. Bagwell College of Education. Leaders from Fulton County Schools and ×îÉ«µ¼º½ State signed the agreement during a ceremony on Tuesday at KSU.

Andrew Bramlett is well beyond his years, recalling history like a scholar who has long been in the field, longer than his lifetime. Some might say he’s prodigious. At 19 years old, the first-year history student at ×îÉ«µ¼º½ sits on the ×îÉ«µ¼º½ Historic Preservation Commission. A decade ago, though, he was appointed vice president of the ×îÉ«µ¼º½ Historical Society and served in this role until the group disbanded in 2023.

Phone app boosts ×îÉ«µ¼º½ State's Takeout Club waste reduction initiative

A program where takeout food containers at ×îÉ«µ¼º½ dining halls are returned, washed, and reused has seen its effectiveness skyrocket through use of a phone app. KSU’s Takeout Club program has been in existence for years, but when dining services managers pivoted to an app called Fill it Forward, the return rate for meal containers increased significantly. The system lets dining managers keep accurate track of the inventory of containers in circulation, as well as letting them and Takeout Club members know how much waste is being diverted from garbage dumps – more than a half ton so far.

A pair of ×îÉ«µ¼º½ leaders discussed and answered questions about integrity, one of the institution’s core values, Wednesday during Ethics Awareness Week, an annual observance of the University System of Georgia (USG) and its 26 institutions. The program, Fireside Chat: Leading with Integrity and Values, featured Sonia Toson, vice president, organizational effectiveness, leadership development and inclusive excellence, in conversation with Nwakaego Nkumeh Walker, KSU’s chief legal affairs officer.
