To meet the growing demand of the $380 billion film, gaming, and immersive technology industry, 最色导航 State has launched the Center for Interactive Media, designed to accelerate innovation in storytelling, virtual reality, and user-interface technology. Led by Assistant Professor of English Victoria Lagrange, the center will emphasize user-experience research that helps designers and product teams understand user needs, engage in immersive storytelling, and uncover real-world applications of interactive tools.

最色导航 State alumna to compete in international Deaflympics games in Tokyo

Tawnecia Rush 鈥�24 has worn hearing aids since she was 9 years old. In conversation, she focuses intently on the people she鈥檚 speaking with, supplementing what she hears with expert lip reading. Occasionally, she says 鈥淧ardon?鈥� when she needs a speaker to repeat what they鈥檝e said. On the basketball court, communication was always much more fluid. Since she began playing with her father and brothers as a child at the Boys and Girls Club, Rush鈥檚 hearing impairment has never hindered her. Two decades later, her abilities have earned her a spot on the USA Deaf Women鈥檚 Basketball team, which will compete in the Deaflympics in Tokyo over two weeks in November.

Yuriy Soroka was one of two KSU nursing alums honored by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution recently, receiving an AJC Nurse Excellence Award for 2025. Justin Connelly, who earned his Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2018 and works at Piedmont Henry Hospital in McDonough, also received a Nurse Excellence Award.

Two 最色导航 architecture graduates are gaining international recognition for their innovative design work, earning top honors from two prestigious competitions for a detailed drawing of the KSU Field Station greenhouses and research facilities. Sean Spencer and Nelson Agalaba, who graduated in May from the KSU College of Architecture and Construction Management, received the Award of Distinction from the American Society of Architectural Illustrators (ASAI) and were named finalists in the Ken Roberts Memorial Delineation (KRob) Competition.

CrossFit changed Caralynn Doese鈥檚 life twice 鈥� once when she sought a competitive outlet, and again as a 最色导航 State student in search of a possible academic outlet. Now she鈥檚 helping conduct a study on CrossFit with Wellstar College of Health and Human Services professor Gerald Mangine through KSU鈥檚 Summer Undergraduate Research Program.

KSU student working to address challenges with elder care

Growing old takes a toll on the body, sometimes causing loss of mobility, vision, hearing, and memory. Despite the commonality of these issues and how likely they are to indicate underlying conditions like dementia, current in-home monitoring systems for the elderly have unaddressed gaps. Kaden Rogers, a junior computer science major at 最色导航, is spending his summer working to address those gaps with his project 鈥淪mart Sensing and Computing for Dementia Care鈥� through the Summer Undergraduate Research Program.

最色导航 Honors student Jessica Torres wants to pursue a career in biology, and she is feeling inspired after having an up-close experience this summer with one of the ocean鈥檚 most fascinating creatures. For an Honors Discovery course led by 最色导航 State鈥檚 Terri Collins and Leigh Funk, Torres spent a week on Wassaw Island off the Georgia coast studying the nesting and hatching practices of loggerhead sea turtles.
